Readers Input: Impact of the Gulf Oil Spill
In your opinion, what are the impacts of the Gulf oil spill disaster on East Central Illinois? If you reside outside of East Central Illinois, we want to read your thoughts on this issue. Be sure to indicate your geographic location when providing your thoughts.

I think everyone is being effected on the oil spill. Those who reside closer to the Gulf are being effected the most, but in Central Illinois we are still being impacted. Seeing what is happening to the area and the animals is impact enough. The oil spill is also using money to clean this up and fix the problem. The amount of oil we are able to get will also be affected. For me personally, I am most impacted by what is happening to the animals and the environment. It is crushing to see these pictures of animals covered in oil.
ReplyDeleteWe are a small part of who will be affected (in terms of who will end up paying). All taxpaying citizens will be affected. Locally, we may eventually see gas prices spike. The price of seafood at the grocery store is bound to be impacted.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I reviewed the pictures of the wildlife covered in oil. Sick. Sad.
I agree with Abby. Like I posted on the picture blog, why aren't people helping out the animals? What are the forest preserves down in Louisiana doing to help save the animals? Are local shelters helping take in animals?
ReplyDeleteI wish people would open their eyes and heart and try to help our the animals in need. I can't imagine being a bird and not being able to fly.
